Dr. Maslanka (U of Penn 1987) has over 35 years of experience in small animal medicine and a deep interest in integrative medicine, a blending of the best of conventional state of the art western medicine and the basic and ancient truths of eastern medicine.  She is certified in palliative and hospice care, bringing solid comfort and good symptom management for the pet diagnosed with a serious illness, and has developed a unique method of extremely gentle sedation for the end of life patient. This journey inevitably folds around to honest and individualized preventative care that focuses on excellent and fresh nutrition, early and definitive treatment of anxiety and of pain, good and manageable dental care, an awareness of risk factors for crippling diseases such as atopy, arthritis, and neoplasia; an avoidance of heavy vaccination, all with the goal of increasing healthspan: healthy and comfortable good quality of life.  She and her husband Rob have six thriving adult children; they share their empty nest with 2 dogs Oliver and Lizzie, Emma the kitty, 2 guinea pigs, and a turtle.  We look forward to the graduation of Rebecca from U of Penn Veterinary School in 2025!
